Do you remember any scenario where in you are so intimidated with how aggressive your opponents were on the table when you play Texas Hold ‘Em Poker? Well, it’s a technique they use, so why not use the same?
If you are not aware, playing aggressively on the table is very significant to winning, most especially with Texas Hold ‘Em Poker game. It’s an important skill you, as a player, should learn. But, there are things you need to learn to play in an aggressive way properly. If you are quite not sure on how to go about playing the aggressive way properly, here are tips for you to learn and apply according.
Aggressive Pre-Flop Play
If there is quite a good timing to playing aggressive, that’s during the pre-flop. Though always take note to raise only a considerable amount you can afford to lose whenever. Checking or calling opponents beat is not aggressive, but raising with good understanding with the odds.
Okay, that sounds too simple. So you go asking what happens when your raise re-raised? The answer is, re-raising the re-raise. However, never miss any single moment to think about the implied odds here. If you think you’ve raised and re-raised enough, then you should call if any of your opponent would still re-raise your last re-raise. But I suspect that if you re-raise more, the fewer opponents, if not a single, would be left for you to handle at the end of it.
Aggressive Post-Flop Play
Okay, now that you’ve raised out pre-flop, you might ask what to do with the post-flop now. Again, being aggressive means you always execute the push, so that means no checking or calling immaturely, but raising. Being the first to take the push in this scenario usually wins the pot though, so it should be you.
Moreover, only do the re-raising game play if you are comfortable with it or have sensed a greater chance of winning the pot. Remember as well that you are betting here, so continuously calculate what you can win versus how much you can afford to lose.
The safest way around if you care about how much you will lose is to play the solid poker and only execute the raise when you hit the flop. Also remember that missing flop means a lesser chance of taking home the pot.
Aggressive Late Game Play
Usually, you’ll be up against a single opponent in the late game. And there are many things to think about from here. It could be either the opponent has a very good hand, he’s very aggressive, bluffing, had nothing to do with his chips, could be anything really. But, there is one skill you need to make use of here, the ability to speculate what the opponent’s cards are and the possible ranking combination it represents.
But that’s just 30% of the strategy as being aggressive can still do the magic here. You need to have some sort of a good hand raise out though. If the opponent raises and you’ve raised enough, feel free to call to end the game or hit him back with a considerable re-raise if you think you have got the hand to beat his. However, you don’t want to go all-in or calling opponent’s all-in unless you believe, by all means, that you have the winning combination.
So there you have the tips to playing Texas Hold ‘Em Poker the aggressive way. Being aggressive can put some extra chances to winning the game. However, overdoing this might lead to an obvious act which opponents might read well and caught you playing aggressive for nothing. Play aggressive the right way at the right time, that should be the rule and the game plan.
