Like any other online casino games, poker either online or land-based had rules to follow. Like in bingo, you need to dub those numbers called to uncover revealing patterns which should match the winning pattern to win bingo. With poker, you need to have the best ranking hand in order to take home the pot prize. So, before you head to any land-based poker room, or logon to any online poker room, be sure to remember the best hand rankings in poker.
FIVE OF A KIND
With four natural Aces plus the joker, Five of a Kind is the best possible hand in poker provided that a joker or wild cards are used. Having a hand with Five of a Kind is definitely worth an all in, however be sure to strategies your betting a bit. You don’t want to scare your opponents to fold, do you?
ROYAL FLUSH
If all the luck in the world poor upon you, the not so achievable combination could be in your hands, Royal Flush. An Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit creates this highest possible straight flush. ex. As – 10s -Js -Qs Ks (where s stands a spade)
STRAIGHT FLUSH
This could be the best possible hand less the wild cards or joker in a play. A Straight Flush includes five consecutive cards of the same suit. ex. 5h -6h 7h 8h 9h (where h stands a heart.)
FOUR OF A KIND
I have grown triple of my bankroll’s previous total when I once had a Four of a Kind. The card to complete the combination actually came late during the time and the pot already had a tall pile of chips while the flop having an awkward combination. Since it’s the last round when the combination completed, I raise all in not caring if I’d scare my opponents to fold (the pot is already huge). Yet, like me, nobody loses their grip on the pot and called. Of course, I won! The combination is no more than four 4 plus A. Basically, Four of a Kind includes four cards of the same rank plus any fifth card. Note that higher ranks are better. I would have lost if any of my opponent got Four of a Kind of cards higher than 4.
FULL HOUSE
A combo of Three of a Kind and One Pair. That is three cards of the same rank plus a pair of another rank. ex. AAA22. Three of the same rank will be the basis of the winning Full House. Ex. AAA22 beats KKKQQ.
FLUSH
This is basically the winning option with a flop having an awkward card rankings. This includes five cards of the same suit. ex. 2c -3c -7c -9c -Kc (where c stands a club). The winning Flush will be determined from the top card on down. ex. Kc -Jc -10c -6c 5c beats Kc -Jc -10c -6c -4c. Pot will be split between players having the same FLUSH combination under different suits.
STRAIGHT
Five consecutive cards of different suits composed a Straight. ex. 5c -6s 7h 8h 9d. The highest card determines a winning Straight when two or more Straights are revealed. ex. 5c -6s 7h 8h 9d defeats 3s -4h -5c -6s 7h. Note that the highest possible Straight is a Broadway Straight (KQJ10A), while the lowest is the Wheel Straight (5432A). Additionally, Straights are named by their highest card, so 5c -6s 7h 8h 9d otherwise can be called “nine-high straight” or “straight to the nine”.
THREE OF A KIND
Three cards of the same rank plus two unpaired kickers results a Three of a Kind or Trips. The winning Three of a Kind is determined by the triple’s rank. ex. AAAJK beats KKKAQ. In case of opponents showing the same triples, kickers will determine the winner. ex. KKKAQ defeats KKKJQ. Else, if kickers appear the same as well, the pot is split.
TWO PAIR
A pair of the same rank, a pair of another same rank, plus a kicker results a Two Pair. ex. AAKK2. The winning Two Pair is is determined by the highest rank. So, AAKK2 defeats KKQQ7, JJ995 beats JJ994, 88772 beats 88662. With opponents have identical Two Pairs, the pot is split. Two Pair are named by the higher pair first, and if necessary, followed by the lower pair. So, 88772 can be described as “Eights over sevens” or “Eights and Sevens” or simply “Eights up” if the sevens are not compulsory.
ONE PAIR
One Pair is a combination of two cards of same rank plus three assorted kickers. ex. 88K32. Ranking of the pair will determine a winner when two or more players revealed One Pair. ex. 88K32 defeats 77K32. Kickers will be given value once two or more players appear having the same One Pair. So, 88K32 defeats 88QJ2. With 42% probability of being dealt, this ranking is one of the most seen hands in a poker play.
NO PAIR or HIGH CARD
Perhaps the most frequent possible hand a player could get. With 50% probability of being dealt, players most often compete their hands to one another with a High Card. This can be described as a hand having no pair of any rank, all (5) are not under the same suit, and not in sequence. If this is the table scenario, the player with the highest card rank wins. So, a hand with AKQ23 wins over KQ982.
So there you have the poker hand rankings and its order of value in the game. Putting up your game strategy can hard especially when you lack those information regarding how you can win. You might stumble on a bad bet scenario when you obviously have the best hand. Some online casinos used to incorporate or add another possible hand rank along with the most common hand rankings which were mentioned above, thus lead to a variation of the poker game. So, understand how you can win, execute your strategy, win big and have fun!
