Blackjack is a simple game. But, if you don’t know the tricks or watch for those hints, you’ll eventually get busted. So, what is with splitting aces and eights? Well, imagine having twice the advantage the dealer has. The chances of getting 21 or having a relatively good hand is double!
Splitting aces just makes sense. Having twice the card with double value is a good advantage over the dealer. With just a card addition on each can get you the blackjack or a hand closer to the winning value. Though, splitting aces is quite advantageous, splitting eights can be a bit riskier. In fact, some blackjack players suggest not to split eights if the dealer has a nine or a ten face up card. But, I say it depends. Cards are flowing simultaneously and if I feel splitting the eights all the time is the way to gain advantage, I’d do it. If not, I would just do it when it feels right to go against a nine or a ten of the dealer.
Playing against the dealer having a ten face up card is probably the most beneficial strategy for winning blackjack. This winning strategy perhaps uses a lot of assuming power. You just have to always think that if the dealer has a ten, play against him as if he has 20 and hit or stay consequently. Just take the same rule if the dealer has a six or any other busted combination. Play like you already know the dealer’s face down card and possible actions he will be making to try to improve it.
Having ideas probably can help you survive your daily struggles, but not with playing the blackjack game. You need to form these ideas into a concrete plan and stick to it. And the plan should comply the basic rules. There might be a lot of times the dealer does not have that ten in the hole, but you have to stick to your bullets and fire it the right way.
Splitting tens or face cards is a ridiculous idea. I’ve seen a lot of novice players do this. They usually proceed with splitting face cards mostly when the dealer is showing a bust card. They take this to grab the chance of doubling their money by hitting each one of their tens. Bad idea! Greed will kill you with gambling. If there is best, there is also better that always comes next to it. Crazy are those who split the second best hand in blackjack.
Doubling your money can be done the proper way. Besides tens and elevens, you can also double on soft 13-18, if the house allows it, and if the dealer is showing a 3-6. There is a good chance the dealer will bust and have you as the winner. Or, a good chance to improve your hand.
But what if the dealer shows a 2 face up card? If you have a 12, then you should hit. This is actually a kind of strategy where in you will have to decide for yourself if it is right for you. The chance of getting bust is a bit high. Though, upon trying it myself, I found that I have more wins over lost.
So, there you have the additional basic blackjack strategies that you can apply. Consistency is key even when the cards are hard to play. But always remember to get up from the table and take a break if you hit a bad run. When a dealer is hot, throwing your money is a definitely a bad idea and could turn your bankroll zero.
